Laurence Rockefeller Visitor Center, Grand Teton National Park
client: Carney Architects
The Preserve includes a visitor center, three restroom buildings, and a network of trails. The design team worked collaboratively to reduce the environmental impact of the building, save energy and water, and design a beautifully crafted building that would fit within the dramatic setting of the Teton mountain range. The visitor center uses 85% less energy than a conventional building with features including daylighting, high-efficiency lighting, and waterless toilets. The visitor center is heated using ground source heat pump technology and cooled by a night flush. This visitor center is the first LEED Platinum project in Wyoming.
